Sleep While Listening to Music, Alright? - Healthy Friend, do you often listen to music while you sleep? Yep, according to research conducted at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center , listening to music can reduce insomnia symptoms.

In fact, there are studies that state that listening to music before going to sleep, while sleeping or in the process of healing several diseases, such as heart disease, schizophrenia, depression, and other chronic diseases. Although it has many benefits, listening to music while sleeping also has rules, you know! Want to know? So, let's check it out!

What music should you listen to?
Every music, has a different rhythm. Music with a slow rhythm, which is recommended as a sleep accompaniment. If you listen to music with a fast beat, then you will have difficulty sleeping and cause poor sleep quality.

According to Michael Breus, Ph.D.,  music with a beat of 60 beats, can help someone to sleep. This is due, during sleep the heart rate will slow down to about 60 beats per minute. Listening to music in tune with the heart rate, will help you enter a quality sleep zone.

What is your hearing limit?
The ear is a very important sense organ, you know! You can hear different types of sounds through the ear. The loudness of the sound, can be measured in decibels (db). But, did you know? What is the ability of human hearing when hearing sound and the maximum limit?

Apparently, someone with normal hearing, can hear very low sounds around 0-15 db . If you are exposed to loud noise over 85 db (like a bulldozer) and are listened to continuously for 8 hours, it can damage your hearing permanently. As for the conversation you normally have, it's around 60 db. So, it's still safe for your ears.

Is it good to listen to music using headest or not?
Do you feel like that? Is listening to music using a headset or earphones more comfortable? Yep, listening to music using a  headset or not, actually doesn't really affect hearing. But, the volume of his voice greatly affects the health of your ears. Listening to music loudly, can risk reducing your hearing ability. Maximum music volume using earphones,  can reach around 100 db .

Listening for 15 minutes, can damage your hearing. When the ear is exposed to sound with high volume, the myelin layer in the ear will thin out . This layer, is the layer that surrounds the auditory nervous system. Physical changes in this layer, can affect the signal capture in the auditory nerve. Therefore, someone who has a hearing loss, will have a longer understanding of speech or difficulty hearing, especially in a noisy room.

Well, Healthy Friend already knows, how to listen to good music? When sleeping or not, try not to exceed the maximum music volume of half the maximum volume, yes! Remember, ear health is very valuable. So you need to take care of it.
